This project involved the conversion of existing
space in an occupied corporate office building for use as a process
plant producing chilled water and hot water to be delivered to
remote customer buildings via underground steel piping mains for use
in the HVAC systems of the customer facilities. This type of
facility is commonly known as a District Energy Plant.
The mechanical portion of this project included
demolition and removal of the twp existing steam boilers, two
absorption chillers and associated piping from the 6th floor
penthouse mechanical room. In addition, there was the installation
of new chillers, cooling towers, process instrumentation system and
HVAC systems. This project was completed while the building was
occupied, without any disturbance to the normal functions of the
facility and its occupants.
