Contract Amount: $700,000
Wilmington, Delaware
Owner: Christiana Health Systems
Customer: The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company
This project consisted of renovations to the fourth,
fifth and eighth floors (patient rooms, non-invasive lab and
mechanical room) along with exterior duct trunk lines to feed these
and other floors. The work also included the installation of a
5-section rooftop air handling unit with pre-fabricated penthouse
enclosures. All work had to be diligently scheduled and coordinated
with numerous construction trades and the various departments within
the hospital, as portions of this project involved both patient
transfer and occupant protection. The use of a 550 ton crane was
required to hoist the air handling unit section, and required an
assist crane to construct it the evening before the scheduled lift.
Approximately 20 people were involved in the actual lift and were
positioned on the roof, on the ground and those monitoring
safety/traffic controls. This project required approximately 15,000
lbs. of sheet metal ductwork which was fabricated in Delcard’s sheet
metal shop. |
