Genesis Health Ventures decided to build 100,000 sf for a state of
the art high profile office space with ample parking for its
employees. The town’s historic requirements dictated the layout of
the new building incorporating hand-made brick with slate-covered
gables and dormers and a clock tower housing a ninety-one year old
time piece that would once again dominate the town’s center after 30
years of storage.
With the site only allowing a 25,000 footprint, a
four story structure was designed. To maintain proper scale with the
surrounding structures, one story was constructed below grade
utilizing a landscaped light well to create the usable floor space.
The mechanical systems were comprised of two
separate HVAC systems, each capable of conditioning the entire
building via a common distribution system. Due to the limited space,
HVAC systems were designed modest enough in size to not be seen at
street level.
